The Triangle Region has officially announced it's bid for one of the most intensely competed for economic development opportunities of the decade: Amazon's HQ2. The second headquarters for the company will bring an anticipated 50,000 jobs and will invest billions of dollars into the local community.
Amazon's publicly issued request for proposal for its next "sister headquarters" details the preferences the company has for the selected location and places importance on things like strong quality of life, talented workforce, mass transit, business-friendly environment, proximity to an international airport, and site-requirements specifics.
The Research Triangle proposal will focus on the strengths of our region, including the incredibly talented and highly educated workforce, diverse and innovative economy, the robust startup scene, globally recognized higher education system, and top-notch quality of life. The story for our region addresses the preferences and interests of Amazon, and our proposal works hard to reinforce the trajectory of this region and deliver a strong case for consideration.
Creating the proposal for the Research Triangle has been a collaborative effort that has excited many members of the community. This process doesn't end after the submittal date (Oct. 19), and we hope to keep the conversation going as we embark on this journey. Join the conversation on Twitter by using #TriangleDelivers
